Immediately after the assaination of the Jedi Grandmaster, the Chancellor had been grabbed by his bodyguards and spirited away to a secured location until an all-clear was given. For a brief moment, Phar K'in was truly frightened.
He was truly stunned to see the figure of the Jedi Grandmaster simply fall over as if knocked from his feet. Immediately, the guards had grabbed him, but only after he caught a glimpse of the fallen man. Before he could react, he was grabbed and put on an armored speeder with heavily-tinted windows, making it difficult to see in or out.
The next few minutes were alarming as one of the human bodyguards said, "Chancellor, sir, everything's under control. For security reasons, we have to assume that you were the target of that attack and we are moving you to a secure location until we are sure the threat has passed. Are you alright, sir?"
He nodded and forced himself to remain calm. "Yes, I am alright. I do not require any medical assistance, but I am concerned for the Jedi Grandmaster, was he--?"
He stopped as soon as a grim expression washed over the guard's face. "I'm sorry sir, but there was one casualty to report. I'm afraid that he was hit." He didn't say much more until the Chancellor was sitting in a secured office. By then some time had passed and then the report came through the holocom system, "Chancellor, I'm sorry to report that the Jedi Grandmaster was DOA. It was a shot to the head, meaning that he was killed by a sniper. We do not know who at the time, but the weapons suggest either mercinary or separatists. The investigation has already started now that it is a documented homicide."
Nodding, though gravely, the Chancellor replied, "That's all we can do for now. Thank you and keep me informed, he was a friend of mine."
"Yes sir."
He knew he'd likely be there for a while, something like the better part of three days...
Finally, once he was allowed to leave, he immediately threw himself into the matter and made several public appearances about it. The Senate was even closed on the day of the Jedi Grmandmaster's funeral. He knew it was the only appropriate thing to do, even if it would aggrivate the situation with the separatists further. Logic told him that some of the candidates would likely attack him for it as well. No matter, he sighed to himself, he was at the end of his last term in office.
