((Important note: the following are all NPC characters until someone volnteers and takes over any of these roles. ))
There was a strange sensation wich befell the Jedi Temple like a dark fog. Something in the Force spoke of a major shift and not one for the better. Something spoke of a shift in the Force preceded by the death of someone rather powerful. It was enough to give the Jedi Council reason to assemble.
At the head of the meeting was the Grandmaster as always and today, the mood was a somber one. With eyes closed in silent meditation, Salix Maas was waiting for the rest to assemble. Instead of allowing that lingering dread to cloud his mind, he chose to explore it and pull from it what he could. For the moment, there was only the sensation of a large masculine shadow being consumed by a smaller and more powerful feminine one and flashes of red told him that it was the work of agents of the dark side. He took a deep cleansing breath. Faces would come in time, but there were more pressing matters.
One by one, the Masters assembled and bowed low before taking thier seats. Eyes still closed, the Cerean man simply nodded and said, "Good afternoon everyone. I'm sure you're sensing the same as I am at the moment?"
"Yes Grandmaster, we have and it looks like we will face trouble."
That drew a nod as the eyes opened to sweep the room. "That almost sounds like understatement."
That remark was reason for the others to either smirk or nod pensively.
"Grandmaster Maas, we have a call from the Supreme Chancellor's office. It seems they are asking for our help in isolating the source of the hacker attacks on the Republic Naval Fleet."
"Anything specific?"
"Not yet, but they have asked us to simply pool resources as we are rather well equipped and we do possess the computers and the manpower to effectively assist them."
That drew a sigh, "Yes, and that is both logical and legitimate..." A Cerean true to form, he still wanted to weigh the other side of the argument..."but how do we know this won't be a wild Nerf chase?"
One answered calmly, "The Chancellor's office spoke of reviewing Navy computer logs and they have isolated a pirate signal. It seems reasonable that they would wish for us to run a parallel investigation to see if we arrive at the same conclusion as they do, or if perhaps we are able to find something they can't."
The Cerean man sat silently with fingers steepled. His face was the image of serenity even as the two brains in his conical head were at war over what decision to arrive at. His eyes closed and there was a silent but dep breath. Exhaling, he came to his decision. "We'll send them a message. We will assist in thier investigation where we are needed. Given the coincidence between this attack and the confluences in the force, there is one culprit we cannot exclude yet. Logically, we must assume that we do not know the party responsible, though jumping to a conclusion is tempting, we must let the hard evidence bear out the truth."
