Character Information
Name: Saldavar Javus
Age: 42
Race: Human
Class: Military
Faction: Sith Navy (Red Hand)
Height: 1.9m (~6'1")
Weight: 90.1 kg (~200 lbs)
Physical Description:
Saldavar Javus is a man approaching middle age and for his years, he has the start of gray hair begining at the temples coming in a steel gray against his brown-black hair. He has a rich tan complexion that on Earth could be taken for a fair-skinned man from India or Pakistan. His steel gray eyes are calculating, cold, and piercing, often striking immediate fear or commanding immediate repsect from his subordinates in the Sith naval fleet. He's tall for a human and lean, looking almost rail thin for his wiry frame.
Personallity:
Javus is a man who is driven to lead an efficient fleet and driven to defeat his opposites in the Republic military. He is the sort to work on a balanced approach, making him as much a professional as he is a military man. Having worked his way up the ranks he has since learned how to deal with figures as frigthening as Sith Lords and even the Dark Lord. To some, he is a professional sailor, to others he is seen as a pirate in a uniform, and others still he is a level-headed, methodical commanding officer. In combat, he has routinely proven to have nerves of steel and to be crazy like a fox. He often looks back to his days as a ship's pilot in his early military years. With over two decades of experience with the Sith fleet, he has enough standing to argue with a Sith lord and periodically win.
Strengths: His primary strength is his ability to problem-solve and to see to objectives at the strategic and tactical levels. He also has the added strength of experience in ship-to-ship combat going as far back as his late teenage years where he served as a ship's pilot. He is clever, making him capable of both learning from his mistakes and giving him the ability to devise new tactics and uses for the existing hardware that he has. As he has proven in battles past, he is also fearless. He is also an effective debater, often using reason and logic to win an argument, even with Sith Lords.
Weaknesses: He is not Force sensitive himself, often joking that he is as sensitive as a brick. Being a military professional for the Sith fleet, he is often preoccupied with eradicating the Republic military and often forgets the value of soft power. He is far from a humanitarian, and will be quick to wipe out a village, city, planet or system before considering fully its value. In a word, he's ruthless.
Fears: His position as the chief officer of Sith naval forces puts him in a position that breeds paranoia in most. Like many admirals before him, he fears losing an argument by losing his life to the very masters he serves. Like all other men in the Sith military, it is his sworn duty to fight to preserve the Sith Empire. He fears that his lack of prowess at the Force leaves him vulnerable to attacks that he cannot defend himself from, leading him to use his cunning, rational prowess and formidable skills of debate to win an argument. He also fears that the Republic military will one day learn his name and seek him out directly, possibly seeking him out as a war criminal or to have him liquidated.
Dreams: His main dream is to see to it that the Sith fleet and ultimately the Sith Empire is victorious and rises to its proper glory. A true believer in his cause, he dreams of a galaxy unified under more qualified leadership, particularly under Sith leadership.
Equipment: As part of his uniform standard, he carries a sidearm, a blaster pistol holstered at his left. At his right, he carries the mark of a senior officer, a dagger of a strange blackish-green metal. The few runes carved into the simple, elegant double-edged weapon speak of its real origin. That is typically kept safely in his desk drawer unless he has to wear dress uniform and deal with either the Sith Council or the Dark Lord directly. Being the ranking officer of the navy, he does have a standard shuttle at his disposal. (Make and model TBA).
Ships: The entire Sith Naval Fleet...exact ships and thier compliments TBA.
Droids: None unless ordered to use one.
Background:
His military career began when he was 17. He was a recruit into the Red Hand and early testing showed he was just wild enough on the stick, and just crazy enough to make the cut as a pilot. Further training and testing showed him to be better with fleet ships than fighters. Dissappointed that he didn't make the cut as a fighter pilot, he still went on as a capitol ship pilot. His combat experience followed soon after he became a ship's pilot. Skirmishes with the Republic navy showed that he was as a clever pilot, cabable of outmaneuvering his counterparts in battle.
Over the course of his career, brilliant victories and clever tactics earned him a series of promotions. As he rose in rank, he earned a reputation for being both fearless and a real leader. He became noted for balancing threat and reward for his men, making him both feared and respected among the ranks that came under his ever-growing command. For his close association with Sith Lords as he rose in rank, he slowly became as devious, clever and in many ways, just as ruthless. One particular battle earned him the command of the entire fleet.
He was supposed to intercept a convoy when it turned out to he an ambush set for him by the Republic Navy. A vicious ship-to-ship battle broke out with fighters and capitol ships tearing into one another. It looked to be a close battle ending with victory favoring the Republic when he ordered the fleet to turn into the fire and return full salvos of missiles and fire. Stunned, the Republic fleet had to break up and the hunter had become the hunted. He continued to give both chase and battle until the fleet was dispatched fully. The ship-to-ship com traffic recordings showed to his masters he was every bit as through and ruthless as they needed in a senior officer. As a mark of his rank, he was presented with the dagger as a mark of his cunning and his bravery in battle.
RP example:
He was in his office looking over the performance rates from the last tactical exercise. The fleet was running as it should, the ships were all running in thier best capacities, and the crew was performing as it should have under battle conditions. He insisted that they constantly train in "war games" to keep hier skills sharp. Fighters scrambled in record times and kills were made with both speed and skill. A weak smile played on his face as he reviewed that data. Good, the drills are paying off. Somewhere there are pilotos thinking me a complete tyrant, but come time for real battle with the Republic, they'll thank me for it. His steel gray eyes were sharply focused on the costs as well as the performance. As always, he was looking for a way to do it all faster, better and cheaper. That was what his masters had been demanding and it was reaching a point where any cheaper and the fleet would begin to suffer. He had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that he'd be hearing from one of them.
A figure appeared on her desk, a com officer. "Admiral, sir, we have a shuttle coming in at bearing three-one-zero and it's one of the executive ships."
"Alright, clear a space for it in the hangar and let it come aboard."
"Sir yes sir!" the figure snapped off a salute, a balled fist crossing his chest and heels clicking before the figure disappeared.
Shaking his head, he closed his steel gray eyes and muttered, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
Minutes later, he was confronted by the sight of one of his masters standing on the other side of his desk. Even if it wasn't the Commander-in-Chief, he still was obligated to salute. Snapping one of in proper fashion, he sank to a knee and let his eyes fall to the floor. There was a voice that called, "Rise and report Admiral."
"The fleet is performing optimally, scramble rates and kill rates are up. Fire placement accuracy is up, and tactical performance is comming along as expected."
"And the expenses?"
Here we go again... His voice was deceptively calm, if only the man he was arguing with wasn't Force-sensitive and capable of sensing the frustration brewing in him. "The expenses remain the same. We are running optimally and I think we've reached a critical crossroads. Any more budget cuts and this optimal performance could be affected."
"The Council is still expecting results in that area, and they will get it, with or without you at the head of this fleet."
His gray eyes burned fiercely into the hooded head of the claoked Sith Lord in front of him. Standing at the ready for a possible attack, he hissed back, "Okay, if that's the case, let me hear that from them directly, or better yet, let me hear that as an executive order from Ultra One. Under any other circumstances my Lord, nobody, and I mean, NOBODY threatens me on my ship! Now your highness, I'm thinking there's an airlock with a certain Sith Lord's name on it...Don't tempt me any further than you already have."
He didn't have to see through the hood that covered most of the face to know that a pair of venom yellow eyes were widening. That voice hissed back, "Why you--!" Before he could finish that sentence there was a third voice that stopped him, a velvet half-whisper that immediately forced both men to thier knees. "Gentlmen, I assumed I'd find you both at this extension. And since I have you both in the same place, it makes it all the easier to tell all parties involved. We need not be concerned about those budget cuts any longer," the voice lilted softly. Javus didn't have to look up to know who that voice belonged to.
"My Lord, we have more funding?"
"Indeed," answered the life-size hologram of the short and hauntingly beautiful figure of the woman that now seemed thier ultimate master, "The Council is aware of it and has been briefed in full. Admiral,"
"Yes Ma'am?"
"While I have you here, I believe congratulations are in order. I have been keeping an eye on the fleet as it is critical to our operations. I must say that I am impressed with the direction the fleet has taken since it came under your command. Especially with this last round of tactical excercises, you are to be commended."
"Ma'am, thank you Ma'am."
"At this point it is wise to let the Admiral manage the fleet and let me worry over the budget. Ultra One out." The figure vanished and they both rose to thier feet.
"Admiral, you got lucky. Pray that luck doesn't run out." The cloaked figure turned and walked out the door. Steel gray eyes narrowed to angry slits he hissed as the doors closed, "Get off my ship."
