It was the start of another election cycle. The current Chancellor was coming to the end of his term and it was perhaps best that this new crisis with the cyber attacks befin at the end of his rule. By the very nature of the Republic being a democracy, change was good. It couldn't have been more evident when before the very Senate Rotund, there was a gathering of the candidates.
There was a debate to be held inside in short order, but first, each would need his fifteen minutes of fame. As one of the honored representatives in the ceremonies was the current Jedi Grandmaster. He knew there were a number ot other Jedi looking about, watching and seeing to it that none of the candidates were harmed.
It was a sunny, warm and pleasant spring day on Coruscant, it couldn't have been better for the symbolic shaking of hands. One by one, the Grandmaster took thier hands and gave them a quick blessing.
Somewhere off in the distance, there was an eye focusing on him through the scope of a Nightstinger. He was more or less invisible for the campuflage offered between his suit and the ability to cloak himself in the Force. He was a void, an absence...with a finger on the trigger and his target in sight. One shot would be fired, one kill would be made and the Dark Lady would be pleased.
After the last in a dozen candidates shook hands, he made his choice and took the shot. Without so much as muzzle blast or the report of a shot, the Nighstinger fired a round. In the time it took for one to blink, the Jedi Grandmaster was toppled and struck dead on the spot. The scene erupted in utter chaos in an instant and that was his cue to run...fast.
Once off and making a getaway, there was only one transmission. "Target liquidated, repeat: target liquidated. Inform Ultra One."

A few days later
Sidro Haanc, the famed Former Jedi Master, and Sith Lord, even Sultan of the Grey Jedi, had vanished into retirement a long time ago, after making sure the Grey Jedi had set their place as a power in the nation, he vanished, becoming once again a nomad. But all that changed when on a outer rim planet he saw on a holonet that the Grandmaster of the Jedi had been assasinated, and although he didnt know if she did it, the skillfulness of the kill spoke highly of his former student. "Kayura....." Is all he said before walking out and leaving immidiatly for Coruscant.
On Coruscant a few weeks later
Sidro had been on the planet about 2 weeks and already his presence was well documented by everyone, but not acknowlaged by the Jedi. "Still must be sore from my desertion." He didnt blame them, but found it amusing. The wise master sat in a bar meditating on whats going on and drinking slowly. "What am I doing?" He pondered

Again, the image of the former Grandmaster was shown on the screen. The text in Basic flashed in bright red letters ONGOING INVESTIGATION...The text describing the sudden attack and police speculation lingered on the screen. There were heads shaking in the bar as the text vanished.
The next image that appeared on the screen was an image that was immediately haunting to those who saw it: there were several Jedi in mourning over the loss of thier fallen leader. Many of them were members of the Jedi Council. The text that appeared with the image lingered and described the changes they had to make in the face of thier loss. The headline under the image flashed in large red letters MOURNING AND CHANGE AHEAD FOR THE JEDI.
Finally, there was another image that appeared on the Holonet newsfeed that was striking. For the first time in the history of his term in office, the Chancellor, a stalwart Muun, was seen to show some emotion. There was a look of utter surprise and horror etched on his face. The text below explained that he was photographed as the Grandmaster fell. The article outlined that no one among the candidates had been hurt, there were only minor injuries in the crowds and that the investigation was now growing to span the entire Republic to seek out the gunman responsible. There was the headline that flashed CHANCELLOR CALLS FOR NATIONWIDE MANHUNT, JUSTICE.
People in the bar were taken aback by the thought of the Chancellor, a man who all these years had been coldly logical and reasoning had been shaken. The bartender looking on and wiping down the bar muttered, "Aw to heck with it, if they haven't found 'im by now, they never will. That sniper's gone for sure."
Another piped up, "What makes you say that?"
"It's easy, the sniper is the first to get whacked after a job like that, don't you ever read? Besides, it had to be separatists. Some of those fools are getting desparate."
The other looked up to see only an ad where the state of the galaxy had been reported just moments before. There was something unknown that no one could put a finger on. As the police reports said on the Holonet, if it was a job done by the separatists, then it was thier most cohesive and coordinated attack yet. The implications of it were frigthening to consider.

Sidro grinned at the foolishness of the people around him, but that was not unusual, he has been told that at many a times there is a smile on his face. Not a happy one, but one that speaks of knowlege that no one else had. He watched the Holonet, which after the short attention paid to the Grandmaster, turned to other things. He was disgusted that the media had so little respect for one of the greatest men Sidro had ever met.
He got up, in a fit of rage, if the Jedi wouldnt share the truth then he would with at least a few people. He stood up and used the force to amplify his voice so loud that everyone had to listen to him. "THIS IS NOT SOME REBEL SCUM, THIS IS A TRAGEDY THE DEATH OF A GREAT MAN, BUT NO REBEL COULD PULL THIS OFF! THIS IS THE WORK OF THE SITH! THE DARK JEDI WERE ABLE TO KILL HIM AND ITS BECAUSE THE GOVERMENT ABOVE YOU REFUSES TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH!" Although he could be heard from a block away he still screamed at them, he hated this goverment, this was the reason he abandoned them in the first place, they were idiotic and slow to action, and it cost the life of someone he used to train with. "I KNOW NONE OF YOU KNOW THE GRANDMASTER, BUT I DID, HE WAS a great man" Sidro whispered the last, but still even people outside could hear his force imbude voice. "I trained with him, he was a friend, a leader of men, and above all someone who cared more about others than himself. So give him the respect he deserves."
Sidro looked around at the startled people, soon someone would get in his face and tell him to shut up, that he was nothing but a trouble maker. Then he would have to leave most likely to avoid having to fight. But for now he just sipped his drink, and hummed a song he used to sing with Kayura before he abandoned her.
