She was at last alone. At the moment, it was her apprentice doing the sleeping, or off doing whatever it was when he vanished. Periodically, she could sense he was off somewhere and relatively dormant. She was alone save the dead and a dog laying on the floor snoring loudly. Galncing up from the computer, she sighed and shook her head. That's it, I'm getting a rug. She was now forced to become sleepless, lest she fear retaliation by some in her own ranks.
A chill descended upon her, it was a open ripple in the Force caused by only one in particular. It was supposed to be a warning. She closed her eyes and right away, the tides of the Force showed his face. Immediately that day on Tatooine flashed through her mind again. Instead of letting that rip through her again, she sighed and focused on the matters at hand. She was in a good position with regard to her former master. She knew all too well he was aware of the recent change of management. A dark smile played on her face. She really didn't have to do too much, nor go too far out of her way to lure him in. Eventually he'd come to try and kill her...there were many reasons for him to do so. Her being the current Dark Lord was merely icing on the cake. He'd have good motive to want to eliminate his opposite number out of sheer battle logic as well as for so many other, more personal reasons. That matter was settled. He wouldn't have the opportunity for quite some time as she was after, for the time, far bigger fish.
She turned her many trains of thought to the task of the Verpine and Roche. She pressed a few buttons. A figure appeared in mineature on her desk. There was a sleepy expression on the man's face as he answered, "Yes, you called Ultra One?"
"Indeed I did. I have another mission for your troops, albeit a more covert one."
There was a nod as the face on the military man grew more serious. "Ma'am, you have my full attention."
There was a smile, "Good, even if this is a secured line, I'm only saying this once. I am going to aks your men to begin the process of taking over the Roche Asteroids."
"But Ma'am, why would we take...Oh. Understood Ma'am."
"I want your men to go in posing as contractors out to buy a weapons order...That will get your foot in the door, but the next step is to take them out and take the asteroids themselves. That will be as easy as killing the power for the better part of three hours and then turning it back on. Disoriented, the Verpine will be easily confused into believing that they have been rescued when in fact they have been conquered."
There was a smile forming on his face. "Understood."
"Excellent. Gather the right men for the job and then act immediately. The Roche Asteroids are of the utmost strategic importance. Ultra One out."
As remote as they were, the Roche Asteroids were as far-removed as Tatooine. Slowly, she had been creeping into the galaxy. They had more planets. They had tangible domain over more than they had when she had killed the last Dark Lord. Even her predecessor's ghost was silent on that one. They could be taken and without a fuss. The Republic, silent as they had been, were none too likely to react to the change. It was as easy as passing off the conquest as a botched pirate raid. Just like that they could be the heroes of the Verpine, winning thier hearts and minds.
Her other objective had to be tended to as well, likely silencing any critics among the Council. She was in the market for a shipyard and was looking for just the right one to take, if not outright buy. A smile formed again on her face as she knew that the Sith order was wealthier than it had been in generations. Some of it was outright theft, the rest was the clever work of worms flowing through the Holonet and sending unnoticably small amounts to thier koffers, but it added up over time. This one was going to take a bit more time. It would wait once they had the Roche Asteroids and the revenues from the weapons sales.
